Hair loss is common among mammals and is linked to the aging process. It is estimated that on average humans can lose between 50-100 hairs a day but under normal conditions they are being replaced by new ones that generate hair follicles. The hair is formed by a keratin fiber, formed by a root (placed in a hair follicle) and a stem. It is called alopecia (or calvicie) to the abnormal absence or fall of the hair, where androgenic alopecia (from genetic origin and mediated by sexual hormones) represents 95% of cases, being more common in men and starting with the front and side. The causes of alopecia are multiple but stress and food play a decisive role, where some nutrients stand significantly like zinc, iron, biotin, pantothenic acid (B5), piridoxine (B6) or silicon, among others.

Bamboo shoots have a great nutritional value and a remineralizing action for their phosphorus, potassium, calcium, but especially for their silicon richness, an oligoelement that contributes to the normal formation of collagen in tissues such as bones, nails, skin, hair or blood vessels.
With regard to hair benefits, studies suggest that increased silicon content in the hair results in a lower hair loss rate and a higher shine.

Serenoa Repens

The fruits of the sabal (Serenoa repens) stand out for their contribution of lipids, phytoesteroles and sterols and has traditionally been used for urological therapies, including benign prostate hypertrophy and for fertility problems.
The serenea extract has shown that it reduces the level of activity of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme responsible for transforming testosterone into 5-alpha-hydrotestosterone (DHT), the main hormone involved in androgenic alopecia. Studies show that high levels of DHT atrophy the hair follicles and make them smaller, reducing the anagenic phase (the hair growth phase) and increasing the telogen phase (the hair loss phase), leading to a more fragile hair tending to fall. Thus the extract of sabal fruit, by inhibiting the activity of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme, manages to control the negative impact of DHT on capillary follicles and can prevent hair loss.

Considered one of the most remineralizing plants, alfalfa provides calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc and silicon in appreciable quantities. It is also a source of amino acids, fiber and vitamins (from complex B, D, E, K), carotenes, flavonoids, phytoesteroles and phytoestrogens. Thanks to this complex and complete nutritional composition traditionally this plant has been used to combat anemia, to prevent arthritis and osteoporosis, to strengthen defenses and to revitalize nails and hair. Preclinical results show that alfalfa leaf extracts can be used as a dietary supplement, due to their wealth in phytoestrogens (isoflavones), to help maintain estrogen levels. It is suggested that in women, with the arrival of menopause, the abrupt fall of the estrogenic level can result in a loss of shine and hair strength favoring a possible hair loss.

- L-Cisteine

Non-essential amino acid that forms part of keratin protein, which represents 80% of the volume of human hair. Keratin is one of the most abundant proteins in the skin, nails and hair and contains high amounts of L-cysteine, amino acid rich in sulfur, oligoelement that forms di- sulfur bridges that provide stiffness and resistance to keratin, and consequently to the hair. Experimental studies show how enriched L-cysteine formulas promote the slowing of hair loss in patients affected by diffuse alopecia, as well as promote the synthesis and maturation of the piloso follicle.
For this reason an adequate contribution of sulfur amino acids, cysteine and methionine, as precursors of the synthesis of capillary proteins, are basic for the maintenance of the hair. To this we must add a series of vitamins (from group B, C...) and minerals (such as zinc, iron, copper or silicon) that influence the correct growth of the hair.

Often, the cause of excessive hair loss is due to certain nutritional deficits in the body; Studies show that the vitamins of group B (pantothenic acid, biotin, niacin, piridoxine,...), minerals (zinc, iron, silicon, copper...) and some amino acids can contribute to hair health.
